The Glencoe Estate Redux
Full historic restoration of a 1920s red brick colonial. We meticulously color-matched the century-old mortar and performed extensive tuckpointing to bring this heritage property back to life. The project required sourcing reclaimed Chicago brick to replace spalled units and custom-mixing a lime-based mortar blend that matched the original compressive strength and permeability.
Limestone Outdoor Retreat
A complete backyard transformation featuring tiered limestone retaining walls, a bluestone patio, and a towering custom-built outdoor masonry fireplace. The project included engineered drainage systems, integrated landscape lighting niches, and a natural stone fire pit that serves as the social anchor for the family's outdoor gatherings.
Modern Ashlar Fireplace
An imposing floor-to-ceiling interior fireplace utilizing dry-stacked natural ashlar stone veneer. We engineered a proper thermal break, installed a sealed combustion firebox, and shaped every stone by hand to create a geometric, contemporary focal point that brings warmth and architectural presence to a newly constructed great room.
Structural Chimney Rebuild
A complex teardown and rebuild of a failing three-flue chimney stack on a 1940s Tudor home. We integrated matching face brick sourced from a specialty reclamation yard, poured a new reinforced concrete crown with proper drip edges, and installed stainless steel flue liners for optimal drafting and safety.
